The Quotation form provides an efficient way of creating "pro forma" orders or for repetitive order.  That is many times a customer will request a price quotation for an order they may place in the future.  You do not want to enter this bid as an invoice since, although it may become an order in the future.  You do not want to enter this bid as an invoice since although it may become an order in the future, it is not a sale and should not appear anywhere in your income or sales reports.  The quotation is a form similar to the invoice where you can enter all necessary customer information, inventory items and special price quotes, but will not affect any of your income reports.  If the customer decides to place the order, you can create a sales order directly form the quotation without having to retype any information.
